Yes you are absolutely correct. I’m on a slightly older version of 2016 (the one that has ‘New Query’ instead of ‘Get Data’). I had a feeling it might be related to that. I’m on a corporate machine however so I’ll have to wait until IT decides it’s time for an update.

If you do feel like trying to ‘inspire’ IT, you might let them know that this patch was released in Nov 2015, and there were other product updates since then as well.  In addition to missing Power Query features, you’ll also be missing other Excel stability fixes and possibly security updates related to Microsoft Office as well.  😉

    Hi Hanaya,

I’m going to guess that you are using Excel 2016, is that correct?

The original version of Excel 2016 included a bug where the dynamic ranges didn’t show up.  That was fixed in a patch, but my guess is that this hasn’t been applied to your machine.  To get the patch you’ll need to:

    • Go to Start -> type Update -> go to Windows Update Settings -> Advanced Options
    • Make sure “Receive updates for other Microsoft Products when you update Windows” is set to On.
    • Run Windows update to get the latest patch for Excel 2016

    I hope this helps!

EDIT:  If I recall correctly, this patch was released in Nov 2015, two months after Excel 2016 was released.
