What will you learn in Power Query Academy?
No matter how ugly your data, it needs to be cleaned for analysis, and the goal of our courses is to make you faster at doing exactly that. We don’t care how ugly your data is, or where it lives. As long as you can get access to it, we’re convinced that you can clean it up and import it using Power Query, and that you’ll save yourself time on a regular basis.
How much time? Great question…
Consider this scenario: a regulation changes in your industry, and every company is forced to hire a new full-time employee in order to process the data that now needs to be reported to the government on a monthly basis. Every company, that is, except yours. Why? Because you were able to automate the data processing and reporting using your amazing Power Query skills, reducing the job to 15 minutes per week.
This isn’t a hypothetical scenario, this really happened for one of our clients. An average of 160 person-hours was reduced to a single hour, using Power Query. How amazing is that? Not at all. If you’ve never heard of Power Query before, our courses will get you up to speed with the most powerful tool in data transformation. And if you’ve already used Power Query, you’ll get a quick refresher on the fundamentals before learning more advanced concepts.
We’ve structured the courses to take you from novice to expert. And wherever you are on your learning journey, you’ll be challenged.
If you prefer, you can start with the Power Query Essentials course and then later upgrade to the Bundle option (see more details in the FAQ below about renewing, upgrading, and cancelling subscriptions).
Refunds are not available on course registrations; all sales are final.
You can choose to cancel your subscription at any time, and will continue to have access to the course materials until your expiry date (please see the FAQ regarding renewing, upgrading, or cancelling subscriptions).
Registration and access to the course is intended for one person only and cannot be transferred another user. Logins and downloads are not to be meant to be shared.

Renewals:
Our system will automatically renew your subscription for another year on your expiry date using the billing information on file. About a month (4 weeks) before your current expiry date, you will receive an email from us reminding you that the renewal is coming up and to confirm your billing details so your access is uninterrupted.
Upgrades:
If you purchase the Power Query Essentials or Advanced course individually, you may later decide you want to upgrade to Power Query Bundle option. In this case you will pay for the price difference between your original course and the Bundle. Please get in touch through our Contact Us page and we’ll send you the details on how to upgrade your subscription.
Downgrades:
If you purchased the Power Query Bundle your first year, you may decide for the next year that you only want to renew for just the Power Query Essentials or Advanced course, not both. In this case you would only pay the renewal rate for the individual course, not the full Bundle renewal rate. Please get in touch through our Contact Us page and we’ll send you the details on how to downgrade your subscription.
Cancellations:
You may cancel your subscription at any time, and you will continue to have access to all of your course materials until your expiry date. To cancel your subscription, go to the Subscriptions of the your Account Dashboard and select the subscription to cancel.
After your subscription expires, you will not longer have access to the course materials, including the downloadable M is for Data Monkey book and Recipe Cards.
While our data files can come in a variety of different formats (just like in the real world), the only tool you need to connect to them is Power Query. What that means is you can follow along with our course using any of the following software tools:
Microsoft Excel (Windows versions only)
- Excel 365 (Windows desktop install as part of an Office 365 subscription)
- Excel 2016-2019
- Excel 2010-2013 with Microsoft’s free Power Query add-in installed
Power BI Desktop
- Power BI Desktop – installed via free download from Microsoft’s PowerBI downloads page
- Power BI Desktop – installed via the Windows Store
- Power BI Desktop – version specific to Power BI Report Server
Yes, the quiz at the end of each module is required. Each quiz contains a set of randomized true/false and multiple-choice questions (usually 10 in total).
You must get at least 80% to pass the quiz. But don’t worry, you can retake the test as many times as you like!
After all the lessons have been completed and quizzes passed, you will receive an email with a link to your Certificate of Completion. You will then be able to download or print a copy for your records.
